You may have heard of the vampire facial and PRP. At Elements Dental Spa & Aesthetics – Baton Rouge Dentist & Aesthetics Spa, our aesthetic procedures utilize PRF which is the maximized version of PRP.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) was a first-generation platelet concentrate that gained popularity because it could concentrate regenerative cells and growth factors with a simple blood draw that could promote tissue healing.
Despite its popularity in facial esthetics, medicine, and dentistry, one of the consistently reported drawbacks was the use of anticoagulants. This was proven to limit the natural regenerative process by preventing clotting (or coagulation).
By removing these anticoagulants, changing the technology and centrifuge protocols, and modifying the blood-collection tubes, it has since been possible to further extend the natural growth factor delivery in a 100% natural manner with no chemical additives.
PRF has since been defined as a 2nd generation platelet concentrate with data demonstrating up to 3 times more positive effects on cellular bioactivity when compared to traditional PRP.
Platelet Rich Fibrin, or PRF, is the most technologically advanced, safest, and most effective treatment for skin rejuvenation and hair loss available today. Introducing your body’s own platelets back into the face and scalp invigorates and strengthens the existing tissues to effectively and naturally regenerate lost tissues due to aging with added chemicals or by-products.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a natural rejuvenation method using your body’s powerful blood and growth factors. Blood is drawn from the patient, and then the patient’s blood platelets are spun at elevated speeds in a horizontal Bio-PRF machine to create concentrated and natural growth factors. This procedure is designed to minimize discomfort and only requires a simple blood draw as used in everyday blood labs.
Once PRF is injected back into the damaged areas of the body, it participates in a number of biological events that help stimulate revascularization of the skin as well as improve the recruitment and production of new cells to replace old/damaged tissue.
PRF can therefore be utilized effectively to rejuvenate the skin that has been damaged due to the rigors of aging and overexposure to the sun and other chemical elements.
Platelet-rich fibrin injections help stimulate healing. This particular blend of platelets plays a crucial role in tissue regeneration. Fibrin, a key component, is renowned for its ability to invigorate stem cells, resulting in the enhanced production of collagen and elastin within the skin. PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) contributes to the cellular healing process, as fibrin exhibits a favorable response when confronted with skin injuries.
